On 14th March, 1915 the 1st Scots Guards of 1 Brigade, 1st Division were relieved from trenches near Richebourg and moved back to billets. On 15th March, the day on which George Locke was killed, these billets were shelled with one large shell hitting the officer’s dining room, killing one of the orderlies and in the evening the enemy began shelling the billets once again. |
